One of the most important concepts that have emerged in urban planning is the concept of flexible and adaptable urban design. This approach allows cities to respond to changing environmental, social, and technological conditions, thus promoting long-term resilience.
Following PRISMA-SCR guidance, existing knowledge is integrated to propose a framework comprised of urban design principles at varying urban scales, that resolve common climate hazards for multiple regions.
Flexible designing of urban public spaces can significantly influence citizens lifestyles and expand the quality of their social lives, by giving the community the chance to participate more in common social activities and to have more effective social communications and interactions.

At its core, the Framework functions as a structured matrix that links sustainability outcomessuch as livability, resilience, equity, and ecological performancewith specific urban design elements and scales, from buildings and streets to districts and regions.
It is the closest to embodying the principles of sustainable urban design in a comprehensive manner, combining the needs of the environment and society in a flexible urban planning approach that enhances quality of life.

The research specifically examines the evolving role of urban furniture and infrastructure in creating inclusive, resilient cities that respond to current challenges, such as climate adaptation and citizen accessibility.
